Manufacturers such as Fanatec and Thrustmaster produce wheel bases which allow for a range of detachable steering wheels. This gives sim racers the option of purchasing a single wheel base. And then multiple steering wheels for different racing disciplines.

We always like to have a formula style steering wheel for when we race F1 car and GT cars. And then we have a rounder wheel for rally driving, racing road cars and lower GT formulas.
